Timestamp editing has arrived, plus tons of new time and motion study features, and everything else we shipped in October
You can now choose exactly where the video in each procedure step starts and ends. You can also study a whole multi-person cell from one video. And instead of digging through charts and timestamps, you can ask a question about any time study in chat and get an answer, then generate updated work instructions from the findings. There’s even more. Here’s what’s new.
Trim or extend the video in any procedure step
When Squint splits procedure footage into step-by-step work instructions, the AI automatically clips the video to match each step.
Now you can hit Trim Video and drag either edge of a clip to trim or extend it, zooming into the filmstrip to land on the exact frame you want. Save it as a copy to keep the original, or replace it right away.
Available on procedures created from video going forward.

Combine videos and documents into a single procedure
Get floor-ready work instructions faster by combining videos and documents from the start. When generating a procedure from a video, you can now attach supporting documents, like existing SOPs, parts manuals, and LOTO procedures. While the video dictates steps and order, the documents add context and terminology that don’t always come through on camera.
Your documents, combined with video of the procedure, create work instructions specific to your operations, with even less editing needed before publishing.
Available now for all customers on web.
A month of upgrades to your time studies toolbox
It’s been a big month for time studies. We’ve shipped a ton of new ways to capture the work, understand the results, and act on them. Check out everything that’s new:
Combine multiple videos into one time study
Recorded a job across multiple videos? Upload up to 10 clips at once, and Squint stitches them together into a single time study. Upload them in any order, then reorder the clips in Squint before you submit. All clips need the same resolution, codec, and frame rate, so the simplest approach is to record everything on the same device.
Study a whole multi-person cell from one video
When several people work in the same shot, the time study breaks out the cycles at every station. You can see the whole cell without filming each station separately.
Update the documents behind a time study
When you regenerate a time study, you can now add, remove, or change the documents, photos, and notes Squint works from. Squint rebuilds the time study with the updated context.
Regenerate specific sections
When making changes to your time study, you can now select a section on the timeline, or several sections at once, and regenerate only those. Everything outside your selection stays as is, including your edits, and you can compare the new version with the original before you accept it.

Ask Squint any question about your time study
Instead of poring over charts and timestamps, you can now just talk to your time study using the “Ask” button. Ask "What are the three biggest sources of waste, and how much time does each one cost?" or "If we could only fix one thing this week, what should it be?" and Squint answers from your time study data.
Compare line balancing scenarios side by side
Build several scenarios for the same line, either balanced automatically by Squint or by moving work between operators yourself. Then compare them side by side to see which plan holds up before anything changes on the floor.

Turn your findings into the new standard. Generate a draft procedure from a finished time study, complete with steps, video clips for visual support, and warnings for safety. The optimization becomes the standard, so your team can sustain improvements.
See how it all fits together: How to close the continuous improvement loop.
And a few more things
Add AI voiceover to a whole procedure at once. Turn on AI voiceover in Manage Media, and it applies to every video in the procedure, including any you add later.
Download all of a procedure's media in one go. Download Media now gives you a single .zip of every source video and image. The original audio is preserved, and if face blur is on, you get the blurred versions.
Squint works in Japanese. The full Squint app, on web and mobile, is now available in Japanese.
A new role for CI engineers. The CI Engineer workspace role gives continuous improvement teams access to the tools they need in Squint.
Content Authors can now manage documents. Content Authors can upload, rename, replace, move, and tag documents, create and organize folders, and set who can see them. Keeping reference material current no longer has to wait on an admin. Content Authors can't delete documents or folders.
Approvers now carry over on recurring tasks. When you add an approver to a task and set it to recur, every new occurrence now keeps that approval step, so audits and inspections get signed off every cycle.
See it all live. Join our monthly What’s New webinar on Friday, November 6, at 1:30 PM ET for a walkthrough and live Q&A. Ask your Squint account team for the registration link. Past sessions are available to all customers here.
